camera zoom and saitek x45 help please

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a used Saitek x45 and I’m going through the growing pains of learning to program it. Although, I’m not sure if Flight is causing additional problems too.

I want to program the camera zoom into any of the buttons on the stick or throttle, but every button I have tried mapping to zoom only zooms the camera one “notch”, it is not a continuous zoom like in FXS. I don’t see any "continuous" setting in Flight like there is in FSX (however, I haven’t tested the x45 with FSX yet).

Then I tried my hand at SST and mapped a couple of joystick buttons to ctrl – and ctrl =. The mapping worked, but depressing the button only caused rapid clicks/notches, but not smooth zooming like the mouse wheel, and nowhere fast enough for my needs.

Suggestions? Thanks!

Jeff

I have the same x45 and discovered that same issue. I think there's a setting in the flight CFG files where you can set a repeat rate for various things. Are you using the saitek software? I've never had much luck with it myself.

Btw, I'm a Jeff too. Haha

I have the same stick.. I think I got around the issue by mapping the keyboard key to my joystick using the Joy2Key utility so it works as well as the keyboard does.
