Hello, im new here on this forum. Been playin around with FS for quite a while, im pretty competent with computers, ive managed to install new aircraft, ai , scenery, etc. Ive been reading alot about people having problems with crashing to desktop (CTD) Well lately my computer has been just flat out crashing while playing flightsim. It used to work great but for the last few weeks everytime i go flyin, the computer just shuts off and reboots. I've done virus scans, i keep my antivirus off while playing, i have ad aware and use it regularly, ive turned down graphic settings, downloaded updated drivers for my video card. Does anybody have any idea what it could be. It used to work great, but now, just cant get her to work at all. Thanks in advance!Grubs

Often caused by scenery - try uninstalling recently added scenery.Could possibly also be caused ( for some people at least ) by the "Seasonal" bug - which seems to affect some but not others. There is a patch for it but - as I've never had the problem ,I'm sorry I don't know what it's called or where you get it - but no doubt someone else will be able to tell you.Dave

Hi Grubs,A crash to reboot usually points to a hardware problem. Have you checked your system temps lately? A very simple test is to remove the left side cover of your computer and use a small house fan to blow cool air into the components. If you stop having crashes after flying with this set-up for a few days it's time to look at your in-computer cooling.Hope this helps,Greg

Hey, Thanks for the replies. I think it might be this "Seasonal bug" I was having this problem a few months ago, and i ended up reinstalling windows, reinstalling everything, adding a cooling fan, updating drivers etc etc. It was working great, for a little while, crashed maybe once or twice in a month, and then this month, just all the time. The only scenery i have installed recently would the the seoul incheon airport. Looks awesome, but i wonder if maybe thats where the problems occured, but it doesnt crash when im flying in korea specifically, lately it crashes in canada, unless where you are at the time is irrelevant.... anybody else with some ideas?Cheers,Grubs

Any other little tidbits you may have added to FS9 recently? I know there were some replacement railroad textures that were causing a some crashes. Admittedly, though, I have to admit that the rebooting of the computersounds more like a hardware issue. (overheating) Especially if it's occuring often. - Matt D.
