Please HEELLLLP. I have problems with stuttering and getting disconnected

Featured Replies

I don't know what exactly the problem is. Seems to be something in the modem, or it's settings.Every time I have a little weather, or clouds, or anything that make my Frame rate descend, such as spot viewing the plane, FS starts stuttering in an strange way. The fps hic cup from 30 to 17 to 26 to 4 to 25 to 15 and so on. At the moment I get that stuttering my dial up connection gets disconnected, which considering I fly Vatsim all the time is a big problem.I tried reinstalling FS like I had done before with this problem, but this time it doesn't work and I keep on having the same.I don't mind much about the stuttering, but I need to solve this Dial up thing. I have already bought some more Ram that I am expecting for the end of the week, but I'm not sure more Ram will solve the problem.Any ideas please. Thanks,Leo

If your modem is disconnecting at the same time as the fluctuating FPS you may have something running in the background. Be sure you are turning off everything that does not need to be running in Windows. Maybe a virus has started and is shutting off your modem ? Maybe it's a power problem and your modem goes out at the time of the power fluctuation. Check that all your fans are running properly as well. You could also install the latest video card drivers to see if they help.Post your system specifications here to get more detailed help from the gurus :)

I had this problem many months ago and solved it by reinstalling FS. But cannot solve it now by doing the same. All Windows programs opened are the same I always have. Antivirus, Firewall, Squawkbox, Active Sky, ServInfo. I always had these opened and didn't have this problem.I don't think is a virus since my virus definitions are always updated and I did a scan yesterday with no virus found at all.My PC is a HP Pavilion XL768, 256 Ram (will get another 256 by the week end), 1 Gig processor, Video card Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64.By the way I find a bunch of places where to get drivers for the video card. How can I know which is the latest? Thanks,Leo

It might have been the VC driver. I had installed the one that comes with the card and might have been outdated. I downloaded a new one and my whole PC performs much better. Loads everything much faster.I check FS and although I have low FR at some moments it doesn't fluctuate from 30 to 17 to 4 to 20, but remains constant fluctuating 2 or 3, so the modem doesn't seem to be affected with this. Thanks,Leo
