Shackleton project interiors?

Featured Replies

I'm taken with the apparently splendid new Shackleton Project creation: http://www.shackletonproject.co.za/ Just one thing puzzles me: there are loads of screenshots, but I can't find any of the interior. What does it look like? (Also I know they have their own forum but >sigh< how many different forums does one have to register on?!) Anyone got any shots they can post?

I had the same question about the cockpit/interior, so I took the most logical way and simply bought the thing. I'm not disappointed: the cockpit (both 2d and VC) is quite decent (and complete!), although definitely not in the same league as MAAM's Briefing Time. But let's be serious: almost nothing is! I would suggest you buy her, and see for yourself.Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

JaapIf you have it why not just post some screenshots?Advising someone to buy a thirty dollar addon sight unseen is a bit dodgy if you ask me.

"(...) why not just post some screenshots (...)"Simple: because I don't have the faintest idea how (sad grin)...Be well!Jaap Verduijn.

Good morning gents,Some screenshots at http://forum.shackletonproject.co.za/viewtopic.php?t=569Regarding the VC. The Shackleton is a much more complex aircraft than the B25. Compare the following...B25 Wingspan 67.6 ft (20.60 m) Length 52.9 ft (16.13 m) Height 16.3 ft (4.98 m) Shackleton Mk3Span 119ft 10in (36.52m)Length 92ft 6in (28.19m) Height 23ft 4in (7.11m) From that information you can see that the Shackleton is bigger than the B25. Due to the complexity of the aircrafts interior (the workstations, wing spar, bunks, kitchen ect) it just was not possible to model it all. It would have pushed the frame rates so low that the aircraft becomes unfly-able. I hope this answers some questions.

Panel looks splendid!! - thank you, that's all I wanted to know. Briefing Time is one of the three aircraft I fly regularly and I love it (though actually the lack of a fully operable VC is my only complaint about it). I fancied a vintage four-engined craft to try but had seen nothing of any quality that had tempted me until the Shackleton release. And don't worry about the bunks - I want to fly it, not kip in it!

2D panel(s) looking gorgeous indeed! Model too! According to photo's of the real thing the paint finish is pretty glossy :http://members.chello.nl/jgvisser/shackl.jpghttp://members.chello.nl/jgvisser/shack.jpgThe screenshots of the model however don't show any reflective texturing nore dynamic shine.Paintwork looks rather matt.. Are both not featured ?? Also, is the soundsuite created with original source sounds ?Some screenshots of the VC would also be highly appreciated..Thanks! Thumbler

The current paintscheme 1722 is painted in, is not the correct colours *grin* A major problem that we faced is the fact what on EVERY photo the colour is a new shade of green/blue/grey :) The sounds are indeed made from real shackleton recordings. The director of Death of Pelcian 16 (www.shortfinals.co.za) "donated" these sounds as his part of you project. Erick then put this really great sound set togeather. Here is one VC shot - i will make a point of adding more VC shots tonight.http://britishclassicaircraft.125mb.com/grab_018.jpg

Just to clear up - the REAL 1722P is not painted in the correct colours.;)

Thanks for the reply,Henk. Just bought the package, congrats with a wonderful and dedicated job ! Always thought the Shackleton is a gorgeous and very impressive beast to look at, fantastic you keep one flying in the real world and fantastic you give us the chance to help a little with that and get a glimpse of what it must be like to fly this extraordinairy aircraft. Well done !! I see now that the visual model indeed sports reflective texturing but i do find it a pity no use of dynamic shine has been made. This would lively up the already beautiful model to great extend particularly re the engine nacelles and big spinners. Please take into consideration for maybe an upgrade later.VC is very nice indeed but, especially because of the lack of all around canopy frames, one can easily get the impression of sitting in the open air because of the lack of 'glass' inside the virtual cockpit.( a few reflections of sticking out instruments and glare shield combing will do the trick ) Maybe for future upgrade too ?.... Soundsuite is very impressive but there can be heard quite some distortion here and there which destracts a bit from the overall enjoyment listing to this marvelous Griffon concert.Special note for the 2D panels because, as all of Saverio Maurri's amazing photoreal panels, they are nothing short of gorgeous !Bravo Henk and all!! Wonderful package !! *Do* keep at it !! :9 Thumbler

Good morning,We did have shine on the mode one stage, but it simply looked like a Christmas tree. So we decided to take it off and add a LITTLE shine with the textures. Also operationally the Shackletons in the SAAF were painted matt colour. Thus it didn

Hi,I am not going to add in the windows to the VC, as I personally do not see a need for it, and when I did during on the early tests, the performance was shocking. Therefore, sorry, but not anytime in the future from me :)Cheers,James EdenShackleton Project
