May 11, 200422 yr Hi all,This is my 1st post to the avsim community. Just saw the HRW adventures and was interested in attempting some of those. I have FS2002 professsional and don't really want to upgrade to FS2004 I paid good money to get FS2002 Pro and I'm not ready to upgrade to 04 yet. I'm still pretty new to fs2002 even though I've had it for awhile just never got around to flying enuff to get proficient. I'm also looking for a VA to join so I can get the most out of FS02.Can I download and fly the Hopping Round the World Adventures within FS2002??ThxKiloton
May 12, 200422 yr Welcome aboard, Kiloton.I'm not sure, but the adventures may be able to be used in FS2002. Keep in mind that FS2004's world database has grown so there may be some waypoints/airports that FS2002 doesn't have.As far as joining a VA, check out the Hangar Sites in Avsim (link above). You can also take a look at www.vatsim.net.
May 12, 200422 yr Hello K-A quick response re: VAs. IMHO, to get the most out of the experience, it really pays to take some time and explore more than 1 or 2 before joining. You will find they differ in several aspects: some are very easy and flexible, others more strict, and you want to join whichever one matches the type of flying you want to do. To explain further, some require you to go through their flight school, some require use of VATSIM, some allow use of accelerated time at cruise level, etc. Also, check out the fleets and hubs. Some VAs force you into promotions before allowing you to fly certain a/c. I believe all require you to file PIREPs (pilot reports).I have been with 2 VAs. I started with Virgin Air, which simply gave me flight lists based on departure/destination. It was easy and fun for a while (I flew lots of international routes), but ultimately less challenging than what I was looking for.Currently I'm with Northwest Virtual Airlines. I had to go through their training, which taught me a lot about flying commercial airliners that I didn't know (including fuel planning, calculating V speeds, non-precision approaches). I'm based at their Minneapolis- St. Paul hub, fly RW routes, RW a/c. Right now I find NWVA very satisfying for me. Again, though, you want to select one that YOU enjoy. You can always drop out and join another later on if you wish, although some will not give you full credit for previous hours (bummer).A good starting point is the links at the usual flight sim web sites.Hope this helps.Alex M.NWVA 0174
