Erratic Keyboard/Icon behaviour when FS Shuts down..Help!

Featured Replies

Howdie Folks,Got a small problem here that is causing me to have fits. For some reason when i shut down FS9 my keyboard goes haywire and when i select an icon on my desktop, it will highlight a number of others which stops me from doing anything with the pc until i reboot. Its starting to drive me nuts! Anyone offer any suggestions or advice?CheersAidihttp://www.vfr-flightcenter.com/avsim_sig.jpg

The only time I've seen this with MSFS is when I've had another app opened during my session that utilizes graphics or other hardware shared by MSFS--such as my TV Tuner card. I've never had the keyboard problems, but I've seen problems with icons highlighting, etc... But perhaps I should first suggest renaming fs9.cfg to fs9.cfg.bak, then doing a simple startup and shutdown. If shutdown is normal, it's possible a config setting is causing the issue. Other items that can be cultprits--USB joysticks, or any hardware that interacts with MSFS.The last thing to mention--do you have a keyboard which requires an applet to run? What I mean is that some keyboards contain volume controls and specialized buttons that you can use to pull up email, etc... Such keyboards install a background app, which monitors and intercepts the keyboard actions. My own keyboard had such a program, but I killed it when it caused a pronounced stutter in all my applications--Lord knows how many times a second it was scanning the keyboard for custom buttons. The flip side is I can't set the volume through my keyboard anymore, but who needs it?Anyway, post the details of your system here too--someone might catch onto something I haven't....And don't tell anyone I sometimes watch TV on my tuner card while simming :)
