June 20, 201213 yr Hi folks I'm currently on AMD X2 (Regor) 250 3.0Ghz (stock) MSI 760GM-p33 4GB DDR3 A friend wants to pay the X2 and the mobo for $55. I am about to upgrade (if you can call it an upgrade) with intel i3 2120 3.3Ghz LGA 1155. My question is, will I, in ways, see quite significant difference? FS9 is my main sim, but as I will use LGA1155 socket Mobo along with i3, I can upgrade it to a newer cpu, so I can a bit by bit move to FSX (not in a rush thou). and, will my DDR3 RAM and my old 9800GT be supported by LG115 socket. I really appreciate your thoughts Cheers
June 20, 201213 yr will I, in ways, see quite significant difference? You should, yes. will my DDR3 RAM and my old 9800GT be supported by LG115 socket. Yes, both so I can a bit by bit move to FSX Remember to get a board with the P67, Z68 or Z77 chipset if you want to keep your overclocking options open
June 20, 201213 yr Author Thank you Dario. I am not sure it can be overclocked though, but it may be by using multiplier (not the FSB). And how will i3 2120 perform running fsx, I may use ZOTAC 560 Ti for future upgrade, is it reasonable? Thanks again Cheers

Thanks again Cheers An I3 2120 can't be overclocked, no, but I was refering to that hypothetical upgrade to a better CPU to run FSX in the future. Your call. I3 2120 in FSX, well, should be ok away from heavy scenery, but if you throw at it the NGX, some addon airport and max settings it will definitely struggle
June 20, 201213 yr Just a thought, what voltage is your DDR3 ram running at? Its not one of the old high voltage kits? And if you go for the i3, keep Hyper Threading On and use affinitymask=9.
