Need help because FS keeps shutting down any ideas??

Featured Replies

Hi im a new user and i dont know if this has already been posted sorry if it has. Recently, my FS keeps shutting down all of a sudden unexpectedly usually this is within 5 mins. Any ideas what this might be? and if this helps i just got a second monitor and after i got it the shutdowns have been happening.

Welcome aboard. Take a look in the hardware section of this forum. I believe it's discussed there. Also look for CTD or Crash to Desktop in this section.

Ditto the previous reply; there is an issue with the default seasonal textures that causes FS9 to crash, which reared its ugly head last fall.Fortunately, as the previous poster says, there is a fix that was made available shortly thereafter:-) If you hunt a little bit among the prevous posts and threads you'll find it. I would tell you the link, if I remembered what it was!!!! .:-roll Also, be sure that you've got the latest version of DirectX installed (at least 9.0b), and that your video card drivers are up to date. If all else fails, be sure to check out the knowledge base at Microsoft's web site (though you probably won't have to go that far). Not to fear; many of us have gone through the same thing you're going through--as was the case with us, with some patience, you'll more than likely find it to be a very solvable problem.;)
