May 25, 200422 yr Hi:Hope this is the right forum for this problem....I use FS9. I installed the Montana Air file package in FS9, even though it was designed for FS2k2...I've installed other aircraftmeant for FS2k2, into FS9 without problems, even a DHC-2 aircraft. This time, after the installation, carefully following instructions with the download file, FS9 starts and stops at the above message...Aircraft initialization error...Montana Air DHC6Is there a way to completely remove (permanently) all the files associated with this download, or has there been a change in one of FS9's main files that messes things up?Listen to this...I uninstalled FS9 (not once, but twice) and re-installed it. The FS9 folder was still on my hard drive. Even after shutting down and restarting. I DID manually remove the FS9 folder, then install FS9 again. But why doesn't the uninstall program at least remove this folder from the hard drive?Any assistance anyone can provide would be so much appreciated. Thanks all, for your time.Respectfully,[email protected]
May 25, 200422 yr To remove the plane from your system, just delete the folder under fsXXaircraftmontana (or what ever)This deletes every thing you added -- except possibly the gauges. If you put the associated gauges into the FS9 gauge folder, you'll have to go in there to delete them, but be carefull as some are probably shared by other planes.Regarding the "left over" folder(s); most formal uninstaller programs leave a few things lying around and they even tell you that you have to manually delete these remaining bits. No big deal.-------------------Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what
May 25, 200422 yr Thanks for your reply. I used the proper uninstall procedure. Shut down and restarted, looked in the Microsoft Games and the Microsoft FS9 folder was still there, in all its glory. There was no mention of the message...'some files or folders could not be removed, etc'I searched the registry an found two keys showing Montana Air. I deleted the keys, shut down and restarted again. Then reinstalled FS9. Same initialization messge came up again...I'm almost tempted to partition the drive, format and reload XP.....I've uninstalled FS9 again. Now, I think I should plan an assault strategy or something to solve this mess. Thanks for your input...I appreciate it.jncameron
