June 13, 200421 yr Hey guys i have a question. i just got back to playing FS2002 again. i choose 2002 over 2004 for better performance. i just wanted to ask some veterans here, what are the essential addons to download and install to enjoy fs2002? what i mean is things such as custom water, fixes, and so on. maybe some really good planes i should get? sceneries? anything that will improve my enjoyment and maybe performance :)(i could search for them myself but i dont want to endup installing lots of poorly made things and possibly even messing up the game :( takes so long to reinstall)
June 14, 200421 yr Uff, you have 1000s!!!FSUIPC: version 2.974 (freeware, and you'll need this for most of the programs you will run together with FS2002)Airport upgrade: aeupgrade3.zip (your rwys and taxiways will look great)Enviroment upgrade: new_envo.zip (beautiful sunsets and sky)Sky world: Great new clouds and other stuff (can affect you frame rate)FS Metar, is a freeware weather generator to get real weather on-line. there are other good such as Active sky, but they are payware.AI traffic mover, and all AI planes and AI FPs from ProjectAI.com. You'll be able to see real airliners in your airports instead of the default aircrafts. In case you want to fly on-line (which I strongly encourage you to) Squawkbox, and Servinfo (I have flown only on-line for the last three months, since FS ATC and AI traffic are the most annoying thing). Then about the sceneries and planes I suggest you go looking for what you need as you go needing it. Basically you will find almost anything in Avsim.com, Flighsim.com, and other sites, or just look in Google and you will also find a lot of things. You will find that for a same AC you have many options. In that case ask here inb the forum and you will always get the answer about which one you should choose.Try always to get only what you are sure you like and will use and delet things if they you don't like them or use them. You will see how much disk space the addons can occupy. The good thing about FS2002 is that most ACs made for FS2004 work well in FS2002 too. Good luck,Leo
June 15, 200421 yr There is a lot of good freeware scenery for the Caribbean. The FS2004 scenery generally works well in FS2002, although there have been one or two that simply don't work at all. I've installed sceneries all over the world, but the nicest group I've found is in the Caribbean. Most of the major airports can be found somewhere. There are also a reasonable number of AI aircraft from the Islands. So pull out a Jimmy Buffett CD, pour yourself a glass of Tortuga Rum, and enjoy the flight.
