June 16, 200421 yr I found a site which lists the route of the air race, but I was wondering if there is a place where they list the actual ICAO codes as there are sometimes quite a few airports to decide from in a city.Thanks-Mikkel
June 16, 200421 yr Airfields at the time had no ICAO codes, there was no ICAO yet :-lolMany of the fields used in the original race also no longer exist so you couldn't fly to them anyway.Just pick the field that looks to be the oldest near a city and you'll have a good chance it's the right one.
June 16, 200421 yr To clarify...I was talking about the race in 2001. The one where the Spirit of Kai Tak won.
June 16, 200421 yr Hiya Mikkel :)I have the details you require and the plane that won!The Route:http://pandora.nla.gov.au/parchive/2001/Z2...m.au/index.htmlThe Winner:http://www.fsd-international.com/dc/dcboar...sg_id=549&page=Hope this helps!
June 16, 200421 yr Thanks...funny thing. The website I've seen the race legs on have a leg between chania and giza, and the one you gave doesn't?Here's my link. http://www.campbellairrace.com/race/raceSched.cfmI can't really see where they list the ICAO, maybe I'm going blind or maybe I just need more coffee. :)
June 16, 200421 yr Hiya Mikkel :)Finished your cup of coffee? Go to the Air Race Website I listed and on the menu click on THE SCHEDULE or try this link:http://pandora.nla.gov.au/parchive/2001/Z2...ce_schedule.htmIt is an archive of the offical race website so I would take it as gospel rather than that other site. Are you planning to retrace the route yourself?
June 16, 200421 yr Hehe...yep I see it now. I'm going to try and fly it with the cessna 310C from Dreamfleet. As I understand it there were a 310 in the race. I really like the plane and it would be a welcome change to have some change in my flying. I'm looking forward to the Aerostar, it's looks like a great plane.-Mikkel
