SullyI hope someone can help me.I have recently purchased from Just Flight,their 727 Professional CD.The problem that I am having is that with all the 727 cargo planes,I should be able to open/close the cargo doors and for the life of me,I can't.I guess that I'm hoping that someone out there has this program and can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

assign the key command for tailhook extend to something and that will make the doors open and close. you also want to assign something to wings fold as that does various extras to certain airplanes as well

SullyAlex,Thank You for the quick reply.One question,without sounding stupid,since the 727 pro CD is not like Flight Sim 2004 as far as settings go,how do I go about assigning that particular command for the tailhook?I take it that there must be someplace to go that I don't know about with regards to installation? actually you just run the installation from the CD and it installs all the 727 pro files onto the actual flight simulator directory. So, you can just start up flight sim, go to settings, then controller assignments, and just assign a key to tailhook and extend wings. It will use those assignments when you fly with the 727 in flight sim

SullyAlex,I tried what you said and sure enough there was Tailhook down/up.I assigned that setting,went to the 727,and it doesn't work.I get a green line at the top of the screen that says tailhook down,then flickers the screen and that's it.I then took off and found out the tailhook retracts with landing gear coming up.Still no doors on the cargo planes.There must be another way. SullyAlex,I was able to finally get everything working exactly the way you described.I had to un-install the 727 CD,then re-install,go to settings,re-assign the wing fold,first,then the tailhook and finally got everything working.Thank You Sully

Good, glad you got it working. For future reference, don't know if you did it this time, but when changing keycommand assigmnents, always do it in the main menu of FS9. As in right after you put in the CD and start the game, go to settings. Sometimes when you change settings in-game it doesn't save correctly and doesn't work correctly.Anyway, check out the beautiful door on the tail and how it extends down as well as the cargo doors. Such a nice airplane. Tons of repaints on the library as well!

SullyAlex,One quick question,I'm just now really getting ahold of this plane with regards to landing.I don't think I've Flight Simulated a aircraft where speed was so critical on approach and touchdown.Just a few knots can mean the difference between decsending to final touchdown or the plane just keeps flying!Do you know,do the wipers work on this aircraft like they do on the A330/340 professional CD?What are your feelings on flying this beauty.I've never tried installing one of the 727's from Captain Sim on the Avsim Library.I found a Alleganhy? 727 I really liked,but have'nt tried to download or install it yet. captain sim is the actual company that made the 727, you just purchased a different version for a different distributor. So I'm pretty sure all repaints will work. Personally I enjoy the UPS, fed ex, dhl liveries... but thats because I am a cargo fan.Yes the airplane is very difficult to land. Trim is your friend, keep a constant speed and the nose down just a little on decent. Full flaps, gear down at least 5-10 miles away just to get use to keeping her on line to land. Make sure you keep decending, unfortunately the only problem with the aircraft is its engines are so powerful it makes it hard to decend.There should be a texture installation program, called TCE. it makes installing repaints easy. Have fun and enjoy flying her! she has a beautiful VC and flies wonderfully, if only somebody updated her flight dynamics to change the power of thrust...

SullyAlex,You are right about the landings.I've learned the hard way but just lately it appears that me and this dynamic plane are starting to bond!!My landings are 100% better,once in awhile a little bounce,but over-all quite smooth.I am having alot of trouble trying to install this Allegheny 727 from the Avsim library into this TCE program.I do exactly what the instructions tell me to do and nothing.It's got to be something right in front of me---I'm just not seeing it. are you just copying the files to the TCE directory? make sure you drag the whole folder with the new livery files in it. Then start the TCE program and it will be listed as a repaint to add.otherwise if that doesn't work, create a folder, example:texture.alleghenyand place it in the 727 directory in the aircraft folder. now open up the aircraft.cfg and copy one of the flightsim.0 sections, replace the texture line with texture=alleghenyrename the lines that mention that certain repaint and change them to represent allegheny, such as the atc_id.then change the number for flightsim._ to the next number in line not being used, and that should work.
