June 23, 200421 yr 1. When you use 'real-world weather with updates', are you supposed to set the rate-of-change to 'none'?2. I've been experimenting with Baron 58 repaints from FS2002. Am I causing myself any major problems by using the modified FS2002 .mdl that removes the default tail number? I have the original still in the default folder for 2k4 paints, but created a second for the older model. I noticed that the liveries painted with the Baron repaint kit use a separate bitmap for the tail number, and the plane ends up with a funny mark on the fuselage when used with a standard repaint. Here's how one of them came out as a test. The plane looks normal to me from all angles, and I didn't find any errors in the VC.Thanks in advance!Scotthttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/81332.jpg
June 23, 200421 yr My error in the previous post about the tail numbers - the new file is the decalnonumber.bmp. Every repaint that uses painted-in tail numbers shows up just fine with modded .mdl as long as that file is in the texture folder as well.Scott
June 23, 200421 yr First, question number one....Real weather is a snapshot of weather at a moment in time. If you set the rate of change beyond zero, it will adjust the weather away from whatever real weather was supposed to be.As for the Baron from 2k2--no problem if you want it there as long as you name it so it appears in the dropdown as unique from FS2004's Baron...-John
June 24, 200421 yr Thanks for the reply - The recently released N344RE 2K4 repaint benefited from this as well.Scott
June 24, 200421 yr Just to elaborate on the answer to question 1:The two settings are independent of each other. Rate of change refers to simulated weather which works with any weather type (themes, real-world or user-defined). If you download RWW with updates *and* have rate of change set above "none" then the sim will attempt to model changes to the weather in between updates. When the next update happens the weather will be changed to the current real-world weather and the sim when then start simulating changes from that point.A lot of people fret over these settings but in most cases the changes generated by the "rate of change" slider are very moderate and you probably won't even notice if you download new RWW that's slightly different. In other words unless you find that conditions are changing rapidly it doesn't really matter what the slider is set to.
