Scenery Installation.

Featured Replies

Okay I'm not exactly a newbie at this been using the sim for some time now (about 20 years msfs). However I have what might seem like a newbie question. I've been quite happy with the scenery until as of late. I guess in some respects I have been intimadated from the installation problems and size concerns (Until I went DSL) anyway my question. Is there a performance increase if you place all the textures that come with a scenery file DL in the main scenery/TEXTURE folder of FS9. I know that there would be a bit of a hit if the scenery is large or complex. I was wondering though as some posts have said that all your scenery - (texture files) to be put in the main scenery/TEXTURE folder of the sim. I have noticed in somecases quite allot of stuttering and I'm hoping I can this down by some degree.Where I was getting 15-20FPS in default scenery is hitting the 8-12FPS.If this is the case then I'm thinking that in some cases for the naming of the files it could be a problem as some seem to be very simular if not the same as files that already exist in the texture folder itself. This could be a bigger problem for the installation process (without renaming - If that's possible?).So any help would be appreciated. I'm sure there are more experienced people then myself out there that could help. The scenery that came with FS9 is quite good and if wasn't for the excellent efforts of the scenery builders out there this would seem to be very acceptable but the talanted people that make scenery make them so good that passing them up would be a shame and half..Ronson2kNo doubt about it...Ronson2k
