July 6, 200421 yr I am using FS2004. I have Loaded sb-fs2002 in FS9,loaded SBRelay in FS9,loaded FSUIPC 3.x in FS9, and copied FSUIPC.dll to modules folder.I then open SBRelay12.exe which says I can now connect squawkbox2 and FS2004 to this server), then setup FS2004 in Multiplayer mode and set-up flight.(When I open FS2004 I get message that FSUIPC.dll may not be compatible but click yes to load anyway)I then open SB Host.exe, then I open squawkbox.exe v2.3.I select TCP/IP with name same as used in multiplayer session set-up.I click search and leave IP blank. No game is found. I redo putting 127.0.0.1 in IP address and squawbox2(1/814) is found. I click join and then squawkbox window appears and I click get started and window disappears. I click fly now in FS and note appears on FS screen that says I have joined the session.A module buttom has also appeared at the top bar. I click this and FSUIPC is the only thing showing. However.I have no Squawkbox to work with.At this point I do not know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
July 6, 200421 yr WildBlue:You left out one critical program. HostSB or SBHost depending on which way you want to go. HostSB can be found in the AVSIM library and SBHost is bundled with SB. Then load as follows:1. Start SBRelay2. Start FS93. Start a multiplayer session4. Create your flight5. Start SBHost or HostSB6. Start SB7. Connect to VatsimMore detail instructions can be found at http://www.vatsim.net under "Pilot Resourses". Hope this helps.
July 15, 200421 yr I've had a similar problem. However, the VATSIM instructions specify _not_ to input your computer IP of 127.0.0.1 in that box. For me, however, that means nothing happens. I click OK, have SB search and nothing -- not in 2 minutes, not in 5 minutes. It just sits there. I have all related software working, including registered FSUIPC. At first I thought it was a call sign problem. As I could go back to FS and the SB Host window would be active, I went to the ATC menu and changed callsigns to match the one selected in the FS session, exited all programs and started over. Squawkbox still never locates a multiplayer session. The only thing I can think of is that SB was my first download (in accordance with the PRC 1.03 procedures) and when I started it the first time I did not know what to put in & exited w/o finishing. Guess I'll reinstall SB 2.3 from scratch. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
July 15, 200421 yr Doug, sounds like you may be doing something in the wrong order. Try following the steps I listed in my answer to WildBlue. If that doesn't work then it could be a port problem.By that I mean, if you are using a firewall certain ports must be open to allow the programs to work. If you are using XP turn off the bundled firewall and try again.Btw, after starting SBRelay do you get the response that you can connect SB and FS now?
July 15, 200421 yr "However, the VATSIM instructions specify _not_ to input your computer IP of 127.0.0.1 in that box."Regardless of those instructions put the IP in the box and chances are that the session will be found and that thereafter you won't need to put the IP in- the system seems to remember it after the first successful connection.Dave

Actually, that worked, except that I DO have to put the IP in every time, although maybe I've only just made the 1st "successful connection." I picked KBOS which showed a delivery controller, w/ the NEWBIE - OBSERVE ATC flight plan, but I guess nothing's happening at Boston. I did minimize FS, go to the VATSIM site, "Who's Online" and found my flight listed among the pilots.I guess I'd better sit down and plan a real flight. :D Thanks again,
