July 9, 200421 yr Mike Stone has made a Vickers Valiant. It is an aircraft that was needed in FS9, and the job is admirable, despite certain drawbacks. The shape and form look just right. The camouflage schemes given are approximate and minimal but okay.Flightwise, the model will fly in FS2002 where I tested it (I happen to have a peculiar problem with my FS9 at the moment--it crashes and reboots--and I suspect I need a cooling fan for my video card to fix it-so therefore I could not test it in its natural sim), but I found that in low engine powewr setting it tends to lose height too fast. Perhaps it does not do that in FS9. The spoiler key seems to slow the aircraft down also, but not drastically--in fact, as much as is normally needed. The panel Mr. Stone gives us is fictional and bears no resemblance to the real one, though it is functional. I replaced it with the FS98 Perrott Valiant panel, still available at flightsim.com, which I further enhanced using FS.Panel and adding a couple of new windows, some instruments, and toggles from the simicons group. My sincere thanks to Mike Stone for something that was missing and filled a big gap. Mike Stone is to be praised for his latest offering, his Valiant.
