July 10, 200421 yr The rudder of the MSFS 2004 default DC3 (Dakota) doesnot respond to turn-inputs by twisting the joystick while taxiing. One has to use differential braking to have the aircraft turn. Can something be altered in FS9.cfg file to let the rudder respond to these inputs??Paddy.
July 10, 200421 yr Yes (not in the FS9.CFG but in the aircraft's AIRCRAFT.CFG file) but bear in mind that the way it is set up is authentic. As a taildragger, it should not turn like a Cessna or Boeing does with a nose wheel. You steer her with throttles and, to a lesser extent, differential braking. Note that on a twist stick, diff braking will kick in when you twist the stick and apply braking. The rudder WILL come in eventually when you hit 40knots at takeoff and the tail lifts, but this doesn't help when taxiing, of course.This is well documented in other posts in this forum, but if you want to go the easy route, change this line in your AIRCRAFT.CFG, under CONTACT POINTS:point.0=1, -56.00, 0.0, -2.3, 1200.0, 0, 0.60, 180.0, 0.200, 2.5, 0.695, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0 ; to:point.0=1, -56.00, 0.0, -2.3, 1200.0, 0, 0.60, 30.0, 0.200, 2.5, 0.695, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0, 0.0Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP FleetDC-3 Airwayshttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 10, 200421 yr It responds but slowly.Remember this is a taildragger, those (and especially the large ones with large wheelbase on the main gear) NEED differential braking (and often differential power as well) to taxi. FS is correct here.
