i need help installing different textures for my fokker 100

Featured Replies

i downloaded the fokker software from fokker.avsim.com and i do not understand how to get the new textures installed. for example, i opened the installion for a certian livery and it so called installed it, but when i tried to change the texture of my plane in msfs2004, there was only the original "house colors" texture that i could use. what is up?do i have to paste some sort of code in the aircraft.cgf file? with addon textures i used for my 737, i had to paste new code within it naming it flightsim.# (#=the # proceeding the previous #).

Hello silvur and welcome to the Avsim forums.Yes, in almost all cases you should check the 'aircraft.cfg' file for whatever aircraft you are installing a new texture for in order to make sure the the entries in it are correct and meet with your personal preference in regards to how they will show up in the FS drop-down menus.Look at the texture= line and make sure it matches the folder name of the new texture. If the line has texture=UA then the texture should be contained in a folder named 'texture.UA'.Look at the ui_manufacturer= and see if it has the same manufacturer as the rest of the entries in file. For instance, the default DC-3 has...ui_manufacturer=DouglasIf you were installing a new texture(livery) for the default DC-3 and the information supplied for you to paste into the aircraft.cfg file had...ui_manufacturer=Douglas Aircraft Co.And then you went looking for this newly installed texture in the FS menu under 'Douglas' in the 'Aircraft Manufacturer' pull-down menu where you normally select your DC-3, you would not find you new texture in the 'Variations' drop-down menu. You would instead have to select 'Douglas Aircraft Co.' as the Aircraft Manufacturer to find this new texture. In other words there would now be two separate manufacturers in your Aircraft Manufacturer drop-down menu for the default DC-3.Similar to that, check the line...ui_type=The default here is normally ui_type=DC-3. Say For instance someone changed this to...ui_type=DC3Then when you went and selected the 'Douglas' as the manufacturer and then selected DC-3 as the type of aircraft 'Aircraf model' you want, you would not see your newly installed texture available in there. You would have to click on the 'Aircraft model' pull-down menu and select DC3. In other words there would now be two separate Aircraft models in your Aircraft model drop-down menu for the default DC-3.Lets say the someone changed both of these lines from the normal default that you are used to. You would then have to select a different Aircraft Manufacturer AND a different Aircraft model in your pull-down menus in order to find your newly installed texture. One way to get around this is to select 'Any' for the Aircraft Manufacturer and 'Any' for the Aircraft model in your pull down menus and then scroll through everything in the 'Variation' drop-down menu. If you still do not see your new texture then there is some other problem. Such as the {flightsim.#} is not in the correct order. Or there is no 'texture.UA' folder in the aircraft's folder to match the line texture=UA.Lastly, you can always change the entries in your aircraft.cfg file to suit your liking. If all your previous Fokker textures have the manufacturer line as...ui_manufacturer=Project FokkerAnd then later on you download a new texture and it has...ui_manufacturer=Fokker Aircraft Ltd.Then just change it to meet your preference, which might be to have it like all the rest of your textures. In other words change...ui_manufacturer=Fokker Aircraft Ltd. to --> ui_manufacturer=Project FokkerThen ALL your Fokker textures(liveries) will be under 'Project Fokker' in the Aircraft Manufacturer drop-down menu in Flight Simulator. At least as far as the manufacturer is concerned. You will still need to select the proper Aircraft model.Hope that helps, and I hope I didn't make any mistakes in my explanation.Cheers,Jim
