Flight Simulator Virtual Pilot Interface

Featured Replies

Has anybody tried the new Flight Simulator Virtual Pilot Interface http://www.fsvpi.com/index.htmThe part that interested me (taken from the overview section) -"For example, an FSVPI enabled add on package could generate a whole formation of aircraft to fly with. You could build an entire air show with you flying as a participant!"I am only digesting the, to me at least, rather involved set-up and usage details and wondered if anybody has any experience of this exciting new software.

Yes, I have. I have tested this with several individual 'Red Arrows' aircraft, flying together in formation. In theory, complete airshows can be put together in which you can be a participant. Needs some refinement yet, though, I think, judging by the input on the PSVPI forum. Give the demo a try, anyway.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Thanks for the feedback. I think it does need a bit more work but it sounds as though it's worth a go! If I purchase the software is it easy enough to add a display and does the restrictive license allow you to post your finished display on the net for all to use. The reason I ask is I have not seen any addons for the program yet. I have installed the demo and although very short it does show the potential.

I can't answer your questions there, Shep, as I only tested a beta version of this some time ago, at Mike Gaut's request, and don't yet have the finished product. In theory, yes, you should be able to configure fairly complex manoeuvres, although this won't be the work of a moment; I don't think it's 'easy enough to add a display', no. But I know that Mike's whole idea was that others would use his program in the way you suggest. Note that only simmers who have his program will be able to use your upload, however.I should check with him in his forum whether or not any upgrades in the future will be free to those who register his product now.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Appreciate the info Mark. I have tried to get back to the link I posted with some questions but the site is down. I like the concept though and will probably make a purchase when the link is working again.

Has *anyone* gotten this to work? I bought a freeware developer license last summer... The demos are miserable (the demo sources are even worse...) and besides the pre-compiled demo I have yet to get anything past a big program crash on connect :(. The forum is dead, no idea where Mike Gaut went with the small change he got off of us :).Oh well, that's life.Just thought I'd post this small feedback; if anyone has this thing working, please let us know, otherwise I think we need to assume +-------+ |.FSVPI..| |...RIP....| |..2004...| |............|--------------------cheers,John
