FS9 Hanging in Windowed Mode

Featured Replies

Hi,When I try to return to FS9 fullscreen from windowed mode(ALT-ENTER), the program appears to be reloading(I get the hourglass symbol), but it never completes! When I do a CTRL-ALT-DEL, I see FS is still running but using over 50% of CPU time. Eventually, after minutes of this, I am forced to end the program and reload.Does anyone else have this experience or know why it happens? I tried disabling the "Pause on task switch" option, and this may work(I've only tried it once. Strangely, FS still pauses if I use another program(?)), but, in any case, I need to figure out and solve the original problem.Any advice would be appreciated,BR,Frank

Hello Frank,I got the same problem a while back. It froze when i tried to go fullscreen while in FS9 main window. You can try to fix this by starting FS9, then starting a flight and when it has loaded try to get into fullscreen. If it works then close FS9 normally and start it back again. As an altenative, open FS9.cfg and search for the [GRAPHICS] section, look for FULL_SCREEN and set its value to 1.Good luck!LukeSAS984Scandinavian Virtual Airlines

Many thanks, Luke.I will try your suggestions as soon as I get home.BR,Frank

What video card and driver version are you using. This sounds like a bug in the driver's DirectX device handling code.

I have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 DDR RAM with latest Catalyst drivers. I downloaded the drivers about a week ago to solve a problem with flickering menus in FS9(it worked!).Thanks for your interest,BR,FrankPS As a corollary to the above, how do I check which version of DirectX I am running?

Select Start | Run, type "dxdiag" and press Enter. The DX version is near the bottom of the dialog.

Great, thank you!I'll check when I get home.BR,Frank

I use the directX diagnostic Tool which you can find by going to start menu--run-- and type in...dxdiag...directx 9c has just been released also....trapper
