July 29, 200421 yr I hope this is not a repeat of any previous threads. I apologize if it is and if the solution is simple.I have a pretty fast 2.4ghz computer here with a p4 processor,a good gaming graphics card and great RAM on windows ME. Most of the time my FS2004 works with only occasional small stutters. Unfortunately I seem to be having difficulty with 4 engine aircraft. Every time I (or the AP) change the throttle setting there is large scale sound and graphic stuttering at the same time. This happens both with FS2004 default sounds and with 3rd party sounds. I have no problem using the same sound files with 2 or 3 engine aircraft, but 4 does the damage. I should mention that I have 'Ultimate Traffic' at 100%, but I have the GlobalMax texture size at 'medium' and most other settings at intermediate levels. Again, no problems with 2/3 engines (except sometimes in FRA/CDG/LHR/ATL/AMS etc). Any suggestions or solutions are much appreciated. Thanks.Jon P.S. Antialiasing is already off, so are water, sp. effects etc. Any others I should get rid of? Thanks again.
August 1, 200421 yr I have had problems with many add on sound files, particularly stereo files which in my view are completely unnecessary, but your problem seems rather different as even the default sounds are troublesome for you. I would advise aliasing all your aircraft that are currently using add on sound files to suitable default sounds, then start the process of tracking down the real problem. After you have found the cause(es) you can then revert to your add on sounds to see if they work OK. If you don't do this you may have difficulty finding the real cause of the problem. Hopefully someone else will give other hints as to what your problem is likely to be, but the default sounds are failsafe in my view for testing with.
