Any users of my FSDS 2 Eclipse 500?

Featured Replies

I'm referring to the FSDS 2 Eclipse I released last week. As I've been home ill for the past two weeks, I've been relieving some of the boredom by tinkering with some of my projects.I found an error with the eicas entry in the panel.cfg that causes it to give false N1/N2 readings, and false FF readings. You can fix the issue by searching for and changing this text:lear_45.eicasto lear_45!eicas (There's two lines to change--one in the main panel and one in the virtual panel section)Next, edit the aircraft.cfg and edit the line that says "inlet_area" to read: inlet_area=1.15. I calibrated the engine using the "bad" gauge entry, so I recalibrated it and found that the change in inlet_area needed to be made. When and if I release an update, I'll modify these .cfg files...sorry about this errorAlso, I am curious as to how simmers like the Eclipse. Granted it isn't the most sophisticated project, but is it fun to fly?Regards,JohnBTW--in case you haven't seen it, here's a link to the project:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID...04ac&DLID=51560

Yes John, I've madde a 200 mile cross country with the airplane...liked it real well. I plan to make lots of further use of it but got sidelined with a couple of tail draggers recently :-)While making the "lear_45.eicas" fix in the panel.cfg, I noticed a number of other entries that had a "." instead of a "!"; should these be changed also??? I'm not familiar enough with the syntax to tell.To answer your question, while I only have a few hours in it, it is lots of fun and fits a missing nitch nicely in my stable of aircraft.Hope you are feeling better and thanks for your efforts here.Larry S.P.S. You may email me direct at [email protected] if I should go ahead and make the other edits to the panel.cfg.

Thanks Larry...I'm glad you like the Eclipse. And thanks for asking about how I am feeling--my illness is stable for now, although I am awaiting results of tests taken this AM...-JohnEdit:"It probably wouldn't hurt to change all of them to "!""Forget I said that--only worry about the gauge I mentioned. Just as a lark I changed the others, and it caused some gauges to vanish altogether...

Hello John,I didn't know you were ill. I'm sorry to hear that! :( I hope the tests they have taken on you show it's nothing serious. :)As for the aircraft, I like it a lot! It's very nice. And I would like to say Thank You John! There is only one thing I found that gave me a little concern. If I go over 330 kts, and I may have to be at a good altitude too like 20,000 ft or more, then my Force Feedback joystick begins to go up and down, violently. I cannot regain control of the joystick unless I drop down to less than 330 kias. Not a big deal though as I like to use the A/P a lot after I've been airborne for a few minutes. Frees me up to take care of navigation.Hopefully, the following might cheer you up a little. :) Have a look...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=152918I've had the above sitting around on my hard drive for a few days. But after I took them I was fairly busy, until today. So now I decided to post them. :-coolCheers and Thanks John, :-sun1Jim

Easy solution for the FFB/330KIAS issue. 330kts is a bit too fast for the Eclipse. At FL350, you should be doing approx 220-225KIAS. I also set cruise climb for 225KIAS and pretty much keep the aircraft at that speed throughout the climb, lowering the rate of climb as I progress into the flight levels... -JohnI'm feeling a bit better--more energy today. I guess I'm still considered pretty ill though--my wife's done more research than I have and says my illness is life threatening if I don't keep it stable--especially if it becomes chronic. Still no word on the tests :(Off to check yer link
