August 4, 200421 yr I just downloaded a cool Upper Panel for the 744 and while I know most things on it there are a few switches that work but I don't see any thing changing on the airplane. They could just be there for fun to switch on and off but I would still like to know what they are exactly. The numbers relate to the switches BEHIND them NOT the switches in front of the numbers. Please someone familiar with the 744 Upper Panel help me out. After #4 I know is the Panel Lights, Landing Lights, Landing Lights, Taxi Lights (#9 I think is also a Taxi Light...are there two on 744?)...then I believe come the Beacon Lights, Nav Lights, and Strobes. After that I'm clueless for #5, #6, and #7.On #8 I don't know what the switch under Starter #2 is. The one that (I THINK) says Con on it.
August 4, 200421 yr 1- Strobe: This controls the strobe lights on the end of the wings2- Panel: I think this controls the lighting for the panel.3-Glare Shield/Panel/Floor: I'm not sure, but it may give you some kind of lighting for the floor panel and the panel above the glare shield.4-Dome: This is probably for the dome light in the Cockpit (just like in your car).5-Wing: My guess this is the light that is embedded in the fuselage located above the wing that shines onto the wing, so the crew can check for icing.6-Logo: This, I believe, lights up the logo on the tail.7-I'm not sure what this does.8-That's either CCN or CON-I don't know what that one does.9-Turnoff: My guess is that it lights up the side of the taxiway/runway so the pilot can see where the turnoff is.
August 4, 200421 yr Hi, 1-6 and 9 are perfect.8 is the continuous ignition switch (CON). If set to ON, it will operate continuously as long as the fuel control switches are out of cut off. If the flaps are out of up position, or if nacelle anti-ice is on, continuous ignition is automatically provided. It reduces the the probability of inadvertent engine stalls. Continuous ignition must be on in heavy rain, severe turbulence, volcanic ash, icing conditions and standing water or slush on the runway. To its left you have the standby ignition selector, to its right the auto ignition selector. Are there different airline configurations on the 747-400 overheads? If not (I can hardly read the lettering on switch 7) it
August 4, 200421 yr Sweet!!!! Thanks to both of you...and I just found out that the lights I didn't know about DO actually work on this panel. :DThanks a lot guys.
