Win 7 Fs9 Problem

When I bought a new system it came with WIN7, I loaded my FS9 and PMDG 737, when I was on XP my mouse wheel would change the knobs on the APU just by rolling it, now I have to click the buttons to change setting. Is this normal, it is a pain to adj. V/S.
