August 8, 200421 yr I finally decided to buy a headset for FS9. I am going to buy a USB one off of Amazon for about $45. The thing is, I just realized something. If it's a headset connected to the computer via USB, and the headphones are being used instead of the speakers (I believe), how are you going to be able to get the Flight sim sounds coming out of your computer speakers, and the Roger Wilco voice coming out of your headset speakers?
August 8, 200421 yr It can't be done, according to the instructions that came with my headset (Plantronics DSP 500, USB). But if someone knows how to set it up, other than using two networked computers, I'd really like to know. Any ideas out there?David
August 8, 200421 yr Yeah so would I. I'm going to try the home cockpit builders forum. If anyone knows they will.
August 9, 200421 yr Depends on what your trying to accomplish. If you are wanting VATSIM ATC on your headset, and FS Sounds on the speakers, then that is very easy to do. But if you want FS to pipe certain sounds to the headset and other sounds to the speakers, I don't think that is possible.
August 9, 200421 yr Well then, that is easy as pie. If your headset is USB, then in the AVC configuration (setup? I don't recall the name) tab, select your new sound device (I think USB installs as a new device) as the input and output, run the mic configuration, and your golden. FS will pipe sounds to the default device, and AVC will go to the USB headset.
August 9, 200421 yr Thanks a lot! I'll try that as soon as I get back from a leadership camp I'm going to for high school (Thursday I'll be back). I'm ordering the headset before I leave tonight.
