Training Tutorials

I bought Flight Simulator 2002 a couple years ago and while I enjoyed the game I was frustrated because of the in-flight tutorials. The voice was distorted to get the radio message feel but I couldn't understand a lot of what was said, I never did get past the first navigation tutorial for the Cessna. I was also frustrated because I wasn't able to load maps and make a flight plan. I checked Microsoft's website but couldn't find answers there. I'd like to get FS2004 but I'm worried that I'll just end up getting frustrated again. How are the tutorials? And are there good maps that will help me navigate?
