Intel turbo boost

Featured Replies

Hello,

I recently got lenovo y560.

I can swap CPU from my older HP laptop.

Would you choose i3 M370 , or i5 M450 .

Both are 2.4 ghz, i5 has 2.53 turbo boost.

Looking at cpubenchmark, i3 has little higher performance.

Would turbo boost help with fs9 since it runs on single core. Some people say that turbo is good, some that's not.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html , but at this page it also shows that i3 is faster in single core mode....

Thanks

Anyone please,

I know the two CPU s are allmost identical, i3 with lach of turbo, is working 25% on all 4 cores for fs9.

Also i5 has max temperature 105 degree, what is proboably better for gaming, ...

cheers

FS9 runs in a single thread, so turbo should somewhat help. Both are great options for FS9 anyway, so I would base my decision on cost

I'd easily pick i5 M450 between those two. As far as I understand it's the same CPU apart from the ability of the i5 to turbo 2 bins=2.66Ghz. As long as the cooling is good enough that's how fast it should run FS9 while the i3 M370 would do it @2.40Ghz all the time.

Hi, thanks for help,

I also wanted i5, since it even sounds better :), it is strange that on some sites I found i3 faster, and on other i5 , but in both cases difference is 3-5 %, so really not a big deal. Will deffinetely swap i5 from HP to lenovo. Wow now finally I can play FSX after all these years :)

Cheers
