August 14, 200421 yr The Sept issue of Plane & Pilot magazine has an interesting article with photos of Extreme Runways that take you to some backcountry strip. Their defenition of a backcountry strip is "someplace you can take your ship to pitch a tent, fry your own burgers, take a nature hike..." The online version of the article has a link to a site that has some really nice backcountry backcountry strips with pictures.I'm not sure if these strips are in FS2004 (going to find out later today). They include:Dirty Devil Airstrip in UtahSullivan Lake in WashingtonKatzehim Airstrip in AlaskaMexican Mountain Airstrip in UtahMineral Canyon Airstrip in UtahBenchmark Airstrip in MontanaAngel Point in UtahMagazine site:http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/Mini online version of article:http://www.planeandpilotmag.com/content/20...me_runways.htmlBackcountry Site:http://www.husky.taildragger.info/huskyl.phpRobert
August 14, 200421 yr Another link:Texas to Johnson Creek, Idaho in a Van's RV6. Lot's of great aerial photo's of Idaho, Utah, & Colorado. He (Doug Reeves) just flew this trip last week. http://www.aircraftcamping.com/There are many great strips in FS2004, but some runways against mountain sides suffer from lack of topography data-points which give them that cut into the hillside look. But at least the effects of density altitude & horsepower make these strips fun.........even in a sim.L.Adamson
August 14, 200421 yr If you haven't already you may want to check out the msn gaming zone for multiplayer games. Usually their is a backcounty or mountain hop game with short challenging airstrips. Alot funner when flying with others I think. If their isn't one don't be afraid to start a new game because it would likely fill up fast. Good magazine article by the way.
