HDG Bug/Fuel burn from left tank only?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I purchased the CT182T from the Carenado Website in late November 2012. I hadn't played around with in any depth until now. I'm quite satisfied with it for the various reasons already mentioned here by the members....

I did encounter two odd things in a flight from KSWF to CYTZ tonight that I'd thought I'd ask about... I searched the forum and didn't find anything similar.

First matter: Near the end of my flight I noticed that the autopilot would hold a HDG course about 30 degrees left of where the HDG Bug was actually set. I can say for certain that wasn’t the case at the beginning of my flight as I use the heading hold to fly the runway heading after takeoff and it was spot on... This started occurring when I began to use the HDG hold as the FSX ATC gave vectors for lineup. The autopilot was set for an altitude hold and the HDG hold and nothing else at the time. I tried selecting and de-selecting the YD on and off several times. I also tuned off and on the autopilot several times and the hold remained the same. I wish I got a screenshot of it but it never crossed my mind at the time.

Second matter: I had the fuel tank selector set to "Both" for the duration of the flight. Toward the end of the three plus hour journey I got a PFD warning "Fuel Low L". Looking at the fuel gauge the left tank was drained into the yellow while the right remained full. I switched the selector from both to the right tank for the remainder of the flight. Yet fuel still burned from the left tank leaving the right completely full...

Has anyone else encountered anything like this?

As for my system I'm running a modest setup: XP 32bit, 4 GB of RAM, an ATI Radeon 4870 512mb card, FSX deluxe with Acceleration. I set up FSX as per the Carenado recommended settings. To be honest, the bulk of my FS experience comes from FS2004 and the Dreamfleet Archer III. I've only recently started flying in FSX consistently.

Thanks for any input.
