Break The Airbus Curse

Featured Replies

I am not sure I should look elsewhere after I completed 3 flights with Airbus X Extended. Most of you perhaps have tried wilco airbus series but I am pretty sure only few who actually bought Airsimmer and decided not to refund it. Although FSL appears to be promising, it isnt here yet, it is a irrefutable fact, but yes, preview is a tasty appetizer but aren't we all starving for French sidesteak?

I always considered wilco airbus as rodeo ridin', steer wrestling with lateral autoflight and tie down roping with vertical nav attitude yet it introduced some of us about how the FBW works. The attempt failed, it was a flop, it was so bumpy and buggy and it started the airbus curse in flioght simulation. I didn't know much about how to properly fly a complex add on and use its all features but it gave me too much fun. CTD when exiting flights, sudden circling pattern at crz altitude, it was simply an appalling way to learn, I learn the hardest way and it is the best.

Airsimmer. I was stubbornly struggling to get the bus to fly like at least, a decent freeware - but it was worse in some areas than freeware standards. Who wants to spend 40 USD for another curse? That is the first time in my limited knowledge of history that a costumer heavily denounced the product, the ceo, the whole team in his humble blog. It freaked me out, well, a bit entertaining thou. However, spending the first 3 weeks tweaking and reading, the bus is actually flyable and the only thing I can be proud of are the exterior / interior model, default soundset and the developer's effort in depicting FBW (in a Russian way) as real as possible. It was a flop for most of Airbus enthusiasts, it was a total disaster for average simmers, but for me and tens of other, it's a matter of belief. We believe what they believe. People stay in a community because they share the same belief. The community (Airsimmer's registered users forums) is a place where airbus enthusiasts put their hard earned cash on a risky bet. The product itself isn't likely fix-able. There are 2 gents that help cleaning up the mess but, sadly, it is never good enough. People stay in a community because they have the same belief and eventually trust. I am happy with the add on. It got me to enhance my knowledge hot FS9 works and airbus itself. Regret? never.. what they did was wrong and a failure.. but thats okay.. it is why they do it that matters, not what they do..

My editor in chief agreed to publish my next Airbus X Extended review in May's issue. I got the product couple of hours ago and I just completed my first 3 flights. There are still a lot of things I should dig in. This is hard. It is so hard to write a review about an add on that had me on my knees the first time I sat on the left seat. It is so hard not to get carried away by sentimental perspectives. I had zero difficulty in firing up the engines and getting her on the runway. The review itself is not like we read here in Avsim, an in depth review with sheer of technical information, the review is meant for casual simmers, what they get by investing in the product, for local flight sim community in a 3rd world country who are lucky enough to spend 5 USD every month to get the magz on a shelf (44.500 IDR). And I do really hope that this will reduce illegal activities..how do they relate? picture the horror of Cape of Good Hope.. I heard in Brazil, reducing the price of certain software actually reduce piracy significantly.

at FL360 above Java Sea..I said to myself.. Here I am, cruising above FL340 without nose up - down issue, no sudden circling pattern (no it is not the one that easily fixed by registry fixed nor magnetic bla bla), no CTDs when editing waypoints, no sudden AP disconnect, no erratic banking when maing turns, and the ambience was just perfect.. I never tried Airbus X but reading the changes list up to 1.04.. I think Aerosoft deserves success. They dont just talk..Aerosoft did the best with this addon... ooops, watch out for that throttle issue.. It only took 15 minutes for me to solve it... the only issue I encountered was convincing myself that this is real.... bugs? sure..it is not long until they'll come up with another fix..or is it a lot better for us to enjoy an appetizer than Kasekuchen?
