World records?

Featured Replies

I see that the "other" flight simulator forum has reaced 80,000 files stores on their database which they claim is a record. Also, being from England I would also like to note that we had the most attendees - over 4,000 - at our convention in Blackkpool this summer. Again, a world record for the number of people attending a flight sim event.David

By "other", do you mean flightsim.com? If so, you can use their title here without it being censored.

So? :-lolQuality, not quantity is what counts -- on both 'records'! :-)

I prefer AVSIM, like most of us who are here in this forum. But we should remember that the other sites, with a few evil exceptions, are also valuable resources. I've used the flightsim libraries, and they still have things that are not in the AVSIM files. I know for many people it's a friendly rivalry, but I'd rather not put down another group that's also trying to better our community. So, let's congratulate them for their milestone! Their progress works for a better sim environment for all of us. Anyone who would like may now join me in raising our steins for a toast!

The ideal is a mix of both and also use other web sites such as Simviation and Virtual Airlines sites.I have found things in Avsim that aren't anywhere else, same with each of the other. For example, one of my airport sceneries I got it from LADECO virtual. I never found it anywhere else.Probably Flightsim has more files than the rest, but is always a pain to login (all the nodes are busy, DUHHH), and now you only have 1/2 hour a day to stay logged (they keep on adding restrictions). After that you can't login until the following day. Needless to say that every person in my family already has a user name ;).That's why I always uploaded the things I created (not too many) in Avsim.Leo

I've never had any restrictions like that. And equally, I've never had any "all nodes busy" that so many report. Flightsim is the second site I visit each morning, right after Avsim. There are indeed files which aren't on Avsim and also people there whose postings I follow.

Maybe you have a secret I don't know about, but most of the times I try to login to Flightsim I get a message saying: All the nodes are busy, please wait some minutes and try again. It gives as an option to become a premium member (something like $15 a year) which would allow me to login any time I want.I have to go back and write my username and password, some times over 10 times until I finally have access. Then if I am logged for more than half an hour and try to do a new search I get a message saying: The maximum a user can be logged is 30 minutes per day. Please come back tomorrow. That is why my 1 year old son and my wife have a username and password too.I think it is their right to have restrictions, and probably Avsim, Simviation and others are too generous, but I won't upload anything to a site that won't let you download my files any time you want. Thanks,Leo

Instead of typing in your username and password so many times, simply hit F5 and then Enter when you get the all-nodes-busy screen. This refreshes the page as it resubmits your data for login. One can usually gain access within a minute or two of this (often just a few seconds).Hope this helps,Kevin

IMHO this isn't the correct forum to talk about another web site, so I'm locking this now.
