February 28, 201313 yr Hi, I understand from your post that you have an AMD 8120 CPU with an ATi 7870 GPU and that you beleive the GPU performance in FSX 'downclocks', could you explain what you mean. Does this problem just exist with FSX or all 3D games? There is no reason why FSX would or could force a decrease in performance of either your CPU, GPU or PSU.

March 2, 201313 yr It looks like AMD have introduced a new technology called PowerTune that automatically alters the GPU clock speed based on power draw - http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/52165-amd-radeon-hd-7870-hd-7850-review-3.html As the night graphics in FSX are not as intensive as the daytime graphics it looks as if your card is automatically reducing its clock speed becuase it is not neccesary for it to run on full power.
