February 28, 201313 yr The computer that I am buiding up has two Memory Hard disks: 1st Hard Disk 480GB INTEL® 520 SERIES SSD, SATA 6 Gb/s (upto 550MB/sR | 520MB/sW) 2nd Hard Disk 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 32MB CACHE Which of these should I install windows 7, fsx and the addons?? Thanks guys
February 28, 201313 yr If it were me I would install everything I wanted to run optimally on the SSD so this would include FSX and all add-ons, you have plenty of room.
February 28, 201313 yr Depends who you ask. For a period of time, the advice was to put FSX+addons and the OS on one drive and everything else (including texture packs like REX and GEX, which don't need to be on the FSX drive) on the data drive. Now I'm hearing that you should put the OS and FSX on separate drives so that the OS isn't making a whole bunch of read requests while FSX is doing its thing. I say put FSX and the OS on the SSD. Load times will be dramatically improved for both, and once FSX is up and running, the bottleneck is the CPU, not the hard drive, so who cares if Windows is making tons of read requests. I'm far from an expert though. Just what I've been able to distill from the many guides and forum posts on the topic.
