September 8, 200421 yr Howdy all:My FS2004 crashes whenever I try and access the 'Select a Flight' menu. The program freezes permanently, and the old control+alt+delete job has to be done.I do have Autosave.dll installed, if that means anything to you ;-)Any help is greatly appreciated. This has only become a priority for me with BOTA closing in, I fear that I will not be able to load the race legs!Specs:Windows XP SP1AMD Athlon XP 2400+Asus
September 8, 200421 yr Ian,one of your saved flight files is corrupted. Move all of them to a separate folder, and see if the problem is still there. Maybe autosave tried to save a flight during a crash or while the sim was shut down. Later you can put the saved flights back in place one by one to see which is the corrupted file (or simply delete them if they are not important for you. Alex
September 8, 200421 yr Hi Alex,I have tried removing everything in my 'Flight Simulator 9Flights' folder to no avail. The only thing it will not let me remove is the FlightsotherFLTSIM.FLT file, but even with everything else gone (including the autosave.dll), it is still freezing. I have tried overwriting this file with the original version from my CD.I also re-installed the default 747 textures, which I thought having deleted may have caused problems.Ian
September 8, 200421 yr Ian,the saved flights to my knowledge are in a folder called "Flight Simulator Files". I might be wrong about this, as I have once moved my saved flights to another partition but at least my folder is named like that.Look for this folder and let me know the results.Alex
September 8, 200421 yr Ah, exactly. I have moved the My Documents folder to another partition so it doesn't fragment the HD with all that file copying, but the name is still right.Alex
September 8, 200421 yr Thought I had replied to this earlier today but guess it didn't go through...Did find it a-okay and everything is working fine.It was one of the suspected autosaves, and once again I was thinking too hard ;-)Many thanks Alex!
