September 20, 200421 yr Currently I am doing an around the USA tour that I started with the purchase of FS9. Being in Easom,Mississippi (M23) on my tour I decided to see if my plane could survive Ivan. Since flying during a hurricane is unrealistic I decided to just leave FS running all day with 15 mins updates on WX. During the day I keep checking the winds and finally they were steady 242/33 gusting 99. I had moved my plane from the save area knowing if Icome back and my plane is back where I saved it then I had crashed and it reloaded but being that my a/c was North with the wind off my side even gusting up to 99Knots my plane survived. During the storm I decided to see what would of happened if I parked it facing north and it imedatly turned into a kite lifting off the ground 100 feet and crashing. So when I re-loaded it and move my plane back to how I had it and left it I was curious if the wind would change direction and crash the plane but it never did. That was an interesting event and its kind of cool to think that you can have tie downs in FS and feel lucky that your plane can make it thru. It was just by luck that Ileft my A/c facing the direction I did and that FS doesnt model lift when the wind is a beam the plane. Just thought I would share.
