FPS Friendly Scenery

Featured Replies

Does anyone have a freeware or payware of KEWR that is frame friendly??? I have the imaginesim and i had a few freeware but when landing about 80 miles out the rate drops down to 1-5 freeze and on takeoff same thing. I also have 3-5 while at the gate

I use Steve Whalin's kewr.zip, which you can find here at Avsim at: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004scen&DLID=40398 and I've never had any problem with it. I can't personally vouch for its accuracy, but to me it looks much better than the stock scenery, and I get decent frame flying in and out of there even though I have other custom scenery installed for KJFK, KLGA, and KISP, all geographically quite close to KEWR. Admittedly, I don't fly into or out of Newark all that often, but I have done so under nearly all sorts of weather conditions.

The frame rates you mentioned look extremely low, no matter what 3rd-party scenery might be involved, which leads me to wonder if your rig is fully capable of running FS9 properly, or if it is, whether you may be suffering from some other issues. You should take a look at my machine's specs, which should be visible to you beneath my avatar. There are people who run FS9 on slower CPUs, and with cheaper video cards than mine, and many of them seem happy with the results they get, but for purposes of comparison, I would say that my own specs are fairly near what's minimally required for good results in FS9. If your specs are as good or better, then something is definitely wrong and you might search the forums here for some good advice on tweaking your system including ways to tweak hardware performance, operating system performance, and FS9 performance specifically.

Hope this helps. Cheers.
