I get an Error 34 when trying to install Patch HELP!!!!

Featured Replies

so do I, what did you reinstall, the complete fs9 program? i've tried switching back to the original fs9.exe from the nocd one, still got error. Have the new FSUIPC(3.40)(registerd), tried with the update both in the root directory of fs9 (f: drive,i keep my flight sims on a separate drive) and in a temp folder on c: drive,,still get error 34,dl'd using both netscape (my default) and ie,no help, get the error with either version of the dl. trying to get a response from MS about what the error code means is probably a waste of time,,,I read the readme file before i started all this and am doing what they say. any ideas out there?Gerald

This error means that the registry path of FS is different from where you have FS now. You can edit the registy or un-install and re-install FS.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Jim, i used regedit to check the registry, did make a change in the path (the path had f:/fs9, changed to f:fs9) didn't help,,,so i bit the big bullet and did a complete uninstall and reinstall,,,,,,,still get the error 34, I've filed a request with MS tech support,,will see what happens,,,,,one good benefit was i was now able to install activesky!!!!if you remember, you tried to help me with an error 1606 problem i was having when trying to install AS2004,,,never did resolve it,,,,until now. since i was'nt really having any problems or issues with fs9 anyway installing the patch is not a big thing for me, i have excellent fps rates as it is (always over 30fps) and the other patch fixes are not a big deal. I will post here if i get a response from MS,,in the mean time going to go flying with AS2004 and have some fun!!!! Thanks, Gerald

I got a response from MS overnight but since i had already done a reinstall i decided not to follow their rather lengthy process (dumping every thing even remotely related to fs9,creating a new user account, etc)and will just continue to enjoy what i have, didn't really feel any need for the patch, never had ctd's etc. really enjoy having ActiveSky now Gerald
