FS2004 everything specs tweaks tests knowledge

Featured Replies

Ok so recently I have been reading the forums on a sim on brakes at work and I have to say I really enjoy the Congo but some just get way to serious first off I want to give u a lil info on my build your typical laptop acer v5 touch screen with windows 8 i5 with 4 gigs of ram no graphics card just intel4000 speed max I e seen is 2.6 ghz on CPU temperatures about 40 when idle when maxed out 60 now this is not what you would call your one laptop or computer to game for fs2009 but thing is I can run fs2004 on high with about 30-63 in fps normal no addons or anything.

Now I've read tweaks to enhance fs such as the fps path the 4gig exe as well as affinity I've tested this also on going to system config and enabeling all cores so technically 4 improves performance a lot more

I've had flight sim now for over 8 months I love it 2 pieces fsx is meh whatever but fs2004 is a Jem if u give it enough juice it runs awsome now let's get down to basics oh and also if my spelling sucks whatever I'm Italian sue me.

Ok so I'm wanting to build a specific computer aka desktop for fs2004

So lets start

CPU - amd vs intel

Gpu - radeon vs nvidia

Motherboard - asus vs msi

Ram - 3 - 32

Fans - corsair - standard and other details

What I need is cheapest equipment that plays at 60-or higher fps

And for all fps deals a lot with CPU as I was setting affinity for fs9 and other programs it increases the fps a lot so yes CPU is huge graphics card is good to but a lot of it deals with CPU remember I have this on a i5 with intel 400 and runs at about 60 fps just by tweaking settings and everything but I have all addons and customs scenerys with loads of stuff LOADS and I've tested a lot on different builds of fs I custom modded the fs9.cfg to allow less polys at farther distance when rezzing so it doesent take to much to render I've also got 20 miles for view but goal is let's come to a conclusion on a matter of topics I will be checking back to see any posts this is not about who's right or wrong it's about this works like this and this works like this

So you guys I give your canvas again hardware settings and CPU are critical gpu helps also let me k ow your thoughts ill post more info as I get off work.

Also with scenery and everything with 100% ai traffic frame rates about 19-27 at some cases with simmers sky haneda and additional addons but again this only a hypothesis not fact like I said when I get home ill update test info and everything

Also I need to correct a lot before I post anything but since my auto correct is dumb on my iPhone its really frustrating anyways ill revise this when I get home!

Ok so I have a valid question what is the most I can spend for a awsome fs9 computer that will have at least 50 fps with pay ware scenery 100% ai aircraft and a whole bunch addons like zinedtek stuff Rex HD v2 or cheapest I can buy that will run about 50fps anything

List of tweaks known that u can use to speed up your process

Affinity set cores to 1-3 does help add 5-6 fps

Fps patch adds 20fps

Alpha searcher thing 40fps-more depends

Fs9.cfg altering values 20fps- depends on values

Set your pc to max cores on system config 15fps depends on pc build

Defragging don't know varries

Eliminate processes as much as u can adds 15fps

This are some of the tweaks I've gotten done also I've had fps at 140 once all depends on your CPU load and how much and what's loading it

Make Shure u set ur visuals to a good decent level and nhancer helps a lot!

For those who don't have nvidia just mess with ur os like graphics panel for intel or eliminate as much unneeded thing for the is like the visuals and things

It all depends on CPU that's what reads a good share of the program sadly I wish they could somehow rewrite fs9 to work along with gpu more like today's games:/

Also and processors which ones are great with what video cards as well intel which processors with graphics card please share your experience this helps a lot I've devoted most my time to finding ways to increase performance and am learning new things as I go:)

Also share motherboards and any i7 or i5 fourth gen users please share thanks in advance :)

I also have a razer edge pro dedicated for fs as well like I said I'm finding out what makes fs9 tick at the best possible way without buying extremely expensive hardware aka razer edge meh it's a hobby lol

Please also share videos as I am a visual learner for setting things or modding or doing anything that has to do with 3rd part programs

Well Jon to answer your question yes and no because remember fs9 is CPU dependNt mostly but u will see a huge fps increase promise

Also tho check your processes as u see what takes up your memory each individual core with programs that run try to focus fs9 on 2 cores

2 and 3 also give me ur spec info

Also a great processor is the i7 and i5 k versions 4th gen faster smarter and a lot more powerful I work at a company were I know some intel people and lets just say intels moving in the right direction!

So to answer the processor question intels great and amd is alright speed isn't the point it's processing power and has fast as heck ghtz but Intels where u wanna go for processing power
