where has the wind gone in FSX

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I seem to have a problem with wind, fortunately not  my own.  If I set the wind speed to say 50knots left to right in FSX I have a great time fighting it whilst flying an approach. However when I get to about half a mile from the runway the wind effect on the aircraft completely disappears and I then have to adjust dramatically to achieve a straight in approach. I have noticed that when using add on scenery the chimney smoke effect from airport buildings is blowing horizontal with the 50 knot wind!! yet the wind has no effect on my aircraft. No matter if I use FSX's own weather, FS approaches weather or REX weather I get the same result I am totally baffled by this. Maybe someone has some knowledge of this problem.

Here's hopeing.
