Requesting ATC Star Transitions

Featured Replies

Evening all,For quite a long time, I've been using radar vectors to get me down safely in IFR conditions. Now as I become ever more familiar with the available instruments (including PMDG's FMC) I'm venturing more and more into the murky world of STARs. Following a star on an FMC or the Default GPS unit is pretty good, especially when I've printed out some STAR charts from one of the many airport chart sites indexed on navdata.at.However, I have a problem. I'd really like ATC to allow me to follow a particular transition. Now, I know ATC allows this. But it doesn't present all the STAR options available for a particular airport. So, my question is whether it's possible to modify and add STAR procedures to both the ATC database and the default GPS database. If so, are there any webpages similar to navdata.at where I can download such files?Anthony Dyer

As far as I know, the built-in ATC does not follow STARs (although it does have Published Missed Approach). Radar Contact does, though.

Not 100% sure about this, but I seem to remember reading a while back (can't remember if it was here or elsewhere) that there was a way of adding STARs into FS9 ATC. I think it involved downloading a program (one of the SDK's ?). Looking at the MS descriptions of these, I can't tell which one it would be, so maybe it was a different program. Whatever it was, I looked into it at the time, but didn't pursue it because it looked like a bit of a learning curve, and I didn't have the time to pursue it then.I tried to find this again, but so far, no luck. I realize I'm not helping much here. Maybe someone else will read this thread and know what this might be.Meanwhile, I'll keep looking.
