October 28, 200421 yr Avsimmers :)After Microsoft's stock planes with their simplistic panels I find that the MD-11 panel is going a wee bit over my head! Could some of you MD-11 gurus please tell me how to work the autopilot because:1. I dial an altitude in but the plane blows right past it2. I set an airspeed and the plane exceeds that too (autothrottle issue)3. If I dial in a heading the plane turns...and blows past it as well4. I cant seem to follow the GPS-generated route on a flight plan..the autopilot parallels the course line on the GPS display instead of flying on it:(My MD-11 does an aerobatic routine after takeoff that would be the envy of any Sukhoi SU-27 display pilot. Please help! If its not too much trouble perhaps someone could post a step-by-step walkthrough on how to work the MD-11 autopilot?Thank you :)
October 28, 200421 yr Did you press the autopilot button?? :-)Well, I'm not an MD-11 flyer, but PMDG 737. But... which MD-11 are we talking about?
October 28, 200421 yr If its the ACS MD11 panel (http://www.acsoft.ch/Flight_Simulator/ACS-MD11-PANEL/acs-md11-panel.html), then I might add the idea of reading the manual. In short, To make the autopilot hold a speed, course or altitude, you have to right click on middle of the dial after setting it - just like in the real thing (pulling it out).Left clicking it will put it at the current SPD/ALT/HDG.
October 28, 200421 yr Thanks for your replies :) Yes, I use the ACS panel (sorry, I should have mentioned that)CargoMun - thats it! Thanks! I did not know about the right-click function! I shall fly the MD-11 and then get back on here to tell you if it worked (which Im sure it will). I really like the panel, specially how hes made almost every switch have a function and not just for eye-candy.Thanx!!!!! :)
October 28, 200421 yr I would strongly suggest reading the WHOLE manual that is supplied with the ACS panel. There are many functions that operate "differently" (read right ;)) to many "normal" FS panels, and it will save you some frustration.Dan.
October 28, 200421 yr Thats sound advice Dan! I shall do just that :) I did notice a "different" feel about the whole panel. I knew when I first saw it that it was gonna take some headwork to figure out (unlike the stock MS get-up-and-go panels!:)
