October 28, 200421 yr I'm using MYWORLD's Landclass for the whole of Europe. It looks great but has a serious impact on the frame/sec ...which make sense if you think that it is one layer of landclass on top of the default one - is there a way to disable the default landclass or a way to pump more frames out of a 3rd party landclass set like the ones by MYWORLD ...?Kind regardsTerblanche
October 28, 200421 yr Very odd, you should get little or no FPS hit with landclass, because it doesnt actually "add" anything to FS, it just changes the way the "texture tiles" are placed in the world.I use Myworld, and have 0 fps hit from it.Dan.
October 28, 200421 yr I agree There might be a minimum hit as the landclass is usually more complex (more different textures) than default. But you should almost not notice this.Alex
October 28, 200421 yr Something does not make sense ...?If I rename the *.bgl files (containing the landclass), the frames rock up to a steady 25 (as locked) and the moment I enable the landclass *.bgl files ... BOEM!! ... down to 18 - 19 f/sec.There MUST be something to it.:-roll
October 28, 200421 yr Will do ...May I ask if you edited your terrain.cfg file as they suggested in the readme file?To change all the MaskClassMap=1MaskClassMap=3toMaskClassMap=0...?
October 28, 200421 yr Yes, I did, that is to fix the MaskClass CTD bug, infact, I wonder if its needed now?Dan.
October 28, 200421 yr I'm also using Myworld Landclass but noticed no impact on FPS, only it takes a little bit longer when you start the flight because terrain is more complex.I had also applied the patch for the seasonal CTD and had no problems. Fs9 patch however fixed that problem and I'm using the standard files. No FPS problems either.
October 28, 200421 yr How did you install the landclass bgl?It is very important to make sure that if it went into its own scenery folder, that there's no texture subfolder in the folder hierarchy. That can cause serious issues with landclass.Although landclass won't slow down MSFS in one sense, in another it can although most times and with most modern systems there's no issues. Landclass tells MSFS what textures to place to represent the terrain you are flying over. Many landclass updates not only add accuracy, but more variety to the terrain over a given area. More variery=more textures and more autogen to access for any given radius. That can be an issue if your graphics card is less than 128 megs or you have a lot of "texture-eaters" flying about (a.k.a. AI :) )....Regards,John(Author - Landclass Assistant)
