How to upload a Rwy12 Object Placer scenery

Featured Replies

A number of people asked us how should they arrange an upload for sceneries done with Rwy12. I am sure that others have the same questions, therefore I wish to repeat the procedure as it appears in http://www.rwy12.com/portal/Quate;"Let me point out a few issues connected with uploading a scenery enhanced with Rwy12 Object Placer; 1. The user (the person who download your scenery) do not have to install Rwy12 on his computer. Anyone with a normal setup of FS2004 can install your scenery. 2. What you have to upload is a zip file that contains the files that will enable the user to activate your scenery (either a stand alone scenery or an anhancement to an existing add-on scenery). Those files are; a. The BGL you generated with Rwy12 Object Placer (no need to upload the XML file) b. The relevant Rwy12 Object Placer library BGL files (if you added only jetways - then add the three jetwaybn.bgl files only) c. The relevant texture files (if you don't know which are the relevant texture files, because the name of each file does not reveal much about the contenet - then upload all the texture files). d. A txt file (or txt file plus Word file) that tells the user about your scenery. Don't forget to credit all the people who created the objects you have used for the enhancement. In this file also explain in a clear way how to install your scenery. e. A few JPEG images (800 x 600 pixels) f. A DIZ file that is requested by both Avsim and Flightsim g. A GIF file that will show on the upload page of Avsim and Flightsim (150 X 150 pixels) 3. Now how to organize the upload; Option 1 - a new stand alone scenery A Rwy12 stand alone scenery is a normal scenery, like any other add-on. Create a main folder with the name of your scenery (for example; Pacific Airport XXX). In this folder you have to create two sub-folders; Scenery (for the BGL files) and Texture (for the compressed BMP texture files). Tell the user to copy the main folder with the two sub-folders into X:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Addon Scenery and also tell him that after copying the folders he must activate the scenery. Option 2 - an anhancement to an existing add-on scenery; Instruct the user to copy the scenery and texture files into the existing add-on scenery and texture folders. He does not have to activate the scenery, because it was actived when he installed his add-on. If you think users don't have the original add-on scenery on their computer, then recommend to go step by step - first install the add-on scenery and only then your upload.Test your scenery before uploading by going exactly through the above procedure on your own computer. To be sure that no other files effect the installation, remove all the Rwy12 Object Placer BGL and BMP files from your X:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Addon Scenery (not the program itself) and leave only the folders and files you intend to upload. If all works well you are ready to upload. Needless to say; backup the files before removing them, so you can re-install them after the test. A word about uploading to Avsim and Flightsim. Both have a clear procedure. Go through all steps as requested. Flightsim enables you to upload via FTP - to do that drag you zip file to the FTP page and then drag also the additional files which you want to show seperately in the upload; DIZ, JPEG images and GIF file"unquate Hope this helps youSeev Kahn
