November 9, 200421 yr G'dayFirstly like to thank Chris and Carmine for finally making night truly night is FS9 its a new accurate experience to get real black nights and great cloud silhouette's at dawn.Looks just like the real thing!!One small problem though is that aircraft contrails seem to remain bright reflecting light that the old clouds used to.SO we have great dark nights with lighter contrails.IS here anything i can do the smkoke.bmp in the effectstextures folder to get rid of the lighter contrails and make them dark like the clouds are now?TIADarren
November 9, 200421 yr My one and only experiment with this sort of effect was with black smoke trails as a result of installing some ready made black smoke effects that when used gave sound problems when changing views though I suspect this is mainly due to my SBLive sound card. I looked at the parameters in the black smoke effects file for ideas and picked a white version to play around with that did not give the problem with the sound. I found that there are 3 numbers that represent the mix of colours, quite high for the white setting, and lowering them by a large amount turned the colour darker. Trouble was for me even though I had a grey trail (numbers higher than with black trail) I got the sound problem back so I gave up the idea. Nothing to stop you saving a copy of the contrail effect and then modifying it this way to see what happens, I guess the file structure will be similar as far as changing colours is concerned. However the main contrail effect was not the one I was messing with so I can't tell you the name of the file.
November 9, 200421 yr Hi CharlieThanks for the response.I think its actually something in the texture like Alpha or something which makes the texture reflect the light as the clouds colors are unchanged that Chris did yet no longer illuminate at night.I have no idea about textures and channels etc so am flying really blind here.I have also dodne some smoke files for the 727 to give it that real smoker look the Capt Sim did not like.ANyone know what the UV entry is in the effect's cfg file?ThanksDarren
