AFCAD Help please

How can I put Cathay aircraft in Hong Kong and Singapore aircraft in Changi etc etc?I am a novice at AI and afcad (worse than a novice). FS2004, do I need AFCAD (Afcad 2.0??)

Well, we all had to start just like you so I wouldn't worry. Read the documentation that comes with AFCAD. Probably one of the better "How to" manuals I have come across. Read it from cover to cover. Start simple and start small... that's what I did. After you create or alter your first airport to add AI Aircraft you'll be so proud of yourself and it will get easier as you go along. The first one's always the hardest. Also drop in and the AI forums at Project AI or AI Ardvark to pick up on more ideas.good luck...

As Ponyboyz mentions, go to http://projectai.com. Look in their official files section, under 'packages', and you'll find a huge list of airlines available for free download. Among those, you'll find one package for Cathay Pacific, and if you look under their cargo section you'll find a Cathay Cargo package. Just download these two packages, and get the Project AI installer.Run the installer and point it to the folder where your two Cathay packages are (unzip them beforehand!), and it will automatically install the packages into FS9.Start up Flight Sim, and go to CLK and you'll see a bunch of Cathay's parked, taxiing, taking off, etc :)The Project AI system is very to use, and takes all the hard work out of creating AI flights. You can download as many of the packages as you want...just run the installer you already have, and it'll install them without fuss!I should also mention too....make sure that you have your AI slider in FS9 setup panel set to a reasonable level...maybe start at 50 or 60%...see how it looks and runs.Enjoy... :)

Really appreciate it will let you know how it all goes!

But first, back to basics...AFCAD does not install traffic. AFCAD provides taxiways and parking spaces at airports. The PAI installers do provide traffic, but that's not AFCAD.For Traffic, most users use TTools, also by Lee Swordy. Both programs come with very good documentation. These things do work together, though. The out-of-the-box program has enough parking for the default traffic, but if you start to add more AI planes, you will quickly need to add more parking.

Will I only see CX a/c in HK or will I see other airlines that fly there too if I download the other airlines in PAI?I already got the CX up and running. Neat. And Thanks.

Hi...Glad to see that you got the Cathay packages working...nice and easy wasn't it? ;)You'll see other airlines at CLK if you download and install the correct Project AI packages too...try British Airways, Lufthanssa, American Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air, Qantas...to name a few that will appear.Of course, the opposite is nice to see as well, if you go to say, London Heathrow and sitting at the stands and gates you see a couple of Cathay 747's amongst all the other airlines too.... :)It's a bit of a chore initially, but I'd suggest that you get as many of those Project AI packages as you can, especially if you have broadband/cable, and then wherever you decide to fly, be it in Asia, Europe, or the USA, you'll not find an empty international airport...makes it so much more realistic and interesting :) And then, if you want to add some of your own flights to the AI, start to experiment with the TTools programme...I've used it to add some military tankers and fighters to a couple of UK USAF bases, and some FedEX also.... (using AI plane models downloaded from Project AI).Have fun... :)

Thanks for the advice! (Don't worry about my 56k connection, I downloaded 4.5gigs worth of Half Life 2 files via steam! It comes out next week....but to play Counter Strike Source for a bit of fun, you need cable or DSL (I want cable but Australia is the middle of no where or the end of the earth...) not that I am a kiddie CSS player or anything! See my post 'other games thread'.I downloaded the other packages so Ill get onto that.About the tankers (military and stuff) I'd really like to have fighters and mid air refuelling.....flying to another country like for an exercise or Iraq etc etc.If Microsoft works FS2006 and puts in the military angle it would be nice. Could simulate many different aerial activities then! Including dropping bombs! Thanks for your advice it is very helpful!(A bomb is flight simulation....it involves an explosion when it hits the ground just like when aircraft hit the ground, um bombs are aircraft without wings-unmanned aerial vehicles, what else can I say? Is that funny?:-lol When a bomb is dropped it technically 'flies' to its target.....:-bang )

OK, I have installed many of the PAI airliner packs. What can I do about the default AI a/c in the phantom airline colours wrecking my realism? :-)Do they stay there until I get all the airliner packs for a given airport? Thanks for your help.Daniel

To remove the default Microsoft traffic either delete, or rename the original microsoft Traffic_5****.bgl (can't remember the numbers represented by the ****'s!!)to Traffic_5****.lgb. That'll stop 'em from appearing. You can find the traffic .bgl's in the FS9 Scenery/World/Scenery folder. PAI traffic will either be Traffic.bgl, or Traffic_PAI.bgl - don't touch these!!:)

There is a backup file for it to and didn't change it so all is sweet. Thanks Man You are cool!Danielwww.danielmcaloon.tk
