November 12, 200421 yr hi all,i have a question about what i need to fly online.i know that i need some programs but dunno which and where to get them. sry if, these topic has already been discussed here but i cant find anything.thx in advance
November 12, 200421 yr If you are looking to fly online with real folks manning ATC, check out http://www.vatsim.net/They have instructions on how to set up the software and such there. You do need to take some tests to get your member ID to use online though I believe. Just to show you know how to operate in the ATC environment.
November 12, 200421 yr Or you could go to http://www.ivao.org/hq/ which have just released a new client (the program you use to get online), which is very easy to use and set up. I guess it really depends on where you fly the most. I mostly fly in Europe and use IVAO, but for US flying I would suggest Vatsim.
November 12, 200421 yr >If you are looking to fly online with real folks manning ATC,>check out http://www.vatsim.net/> You do need to take some tests to get your member ID>to use online Not so...........No tests needed for flying - only if you wish to take up controlling.Of all the available networks this (VATSIM) is certainly the most realistic.Dave
November 12, 200421 yr I apologise beforehand if I'm not understanding you correctly. To me it sounds like you are saying that Vatsim is vastly superior in realism compared to for example IVAO. Well I've flown on both and I have to disagree, while Vatsim is probably the most realistic of the two, it's not by much. I admit I have only recently started flying on IVAO, but in that short time I have not seen or heard anything that would lead me to suggest that they are not as realistic as possible.
November 12, 200421 yr MikkelI think I said....."Of all the available networks this (VATSIM) is certainly the most realistic."While you said.... "while Vatsim is probably the most realistic of the two, it's not by much"I didn't quantify the amount of realism only that I feel VATSIM is better.............Can't really see that we disagree?Dave
November 12, 200421 yr Okay, see english is not my first language so it's sometimes hard to pick up the small nuances....sorry.
November 12, 200421 yr Vatsim and the like might seem like jumping in the deep end, but nothing matches them for realism. If, however, you just want to fly for fun with others around the world, use the multiplayer function within flightsim to join a group of flyers in the Zone. Once you've got a taste for multiplayer, it's hard to go back to flying alone.Blair
November 12, 200421 yr Just want to jump in here. I signed up with Vatsim yesterday and tried to fly online. Hate to ask this, anyone know how to connect to Vatsim in FS9 or how to get setup to fly online? From their website, I have no idea of how to go about do it. For other sims, there usually is a client you download that allows you to connect to the servers.
November 12, 200421 yr Go to the VATSIM website - on the left hand side of the home page there is a big flashing red sign - says......... " New pilots start here" --- Start there. It will take you to the Pilots Resource center where you will find all the software and instructions for setupDave
November 12, 200421 yr Or you can go to the IVAO site and download their client, which will get you online in one click, and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to get online.
November 13, 200421 yr >Thnx, I will try both. >>Since you asked about "what programS" I'm gonna throw in an oar here. You should really pick up TeamSpeak and have a headset with boom on it. This allows you to talk instead of typing your conversation. You do, of cuss, need a sound card also. I know my enjoyment of multi increased enormously after I installed it. :D
November 13, 200421 yr For speech on VATSIM you need AVC(get it via the VATSIM Website/Pilots resource Center)Dave
