Add-on installation problem

Featured Replies

I just tried to install some new planes in FS9. However, they're not showing up when I start FS9. To my knowledge, everything in the Config, Airfile, and Model config matches up correctly. I have successfully installed add-ons for over three years so I don't know what's going on. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a bug within MSFS? I'm new to this forum so if this question has been posted before, I apologize. Thanks,Jeff in PHX

It might be that you have installed AI planes. AFAIK they won't show up. I'm not sure of the setting(s) required to make them show up but I believe this particular question has been posted before.

Check the air file and look at the value for "*Aircraft type=".If the value is "2", it won't show up. If you change it to "0" (and save)it will show up.If you don't have a program that can open air files, a popular one is AirEd. You can google this for a download site. Here is one for version 1.51 http://www.simradar.com/File/2363/AirEd_Version_1_51.htmlI have version 1.52, but can't remember where I got it.I use it mostly to check if I have installed AI aircraft and repaints correctly. After installing an AI plane (or repaint) I change the "Aircraft type=" to 2, start FS and see if my addition appears in the Select Aircraft menu. Once I know it's there, I change the "Aircraft type=" back to zero and save.
