FS 2004 weather

Featured Replies

Just loaded FS 2004 on my computer, I have had it forever, but have been happy with 2002, so I never loaded it. Question about weather, if I customize the weather myself, I start off in a snowstorm, but when I get to the destination airport it is not snowing. If you put in your own weather in 2002, that same weather at the departure airport would be the same at the destination airport. I know I am doing something wrong. Can anyone help. Thanks. Andrew

hi there. you have the option to apply weather in different places by clicking on the weather stations and selecting one or all and so on. so you can set off in good weather and arrive in a snowstorm by clicking the weather station nearest your destination and defining the conditions there. does this help?!

No, you are not doing anything wrong... When you begin, it checks with the weather at the station nearest you. Then, every 15 minutes it again checks the weather, so you land with the correct weather near the destination. It is quite common to have different weather, even a few miles apart. When it is raining in Los Angeles, most of the time it is not here, less than 15 miles away by air. Some days when it rains there, it never rains here. The same is true of snow, it may be coming from only _one_ cloud, even if 7/8ths overcast. You can have it snowing all the way, IF it is snowing when you depart, or if you change weather settings to User, it will keep the file it downloaded. And, if you set User Weather conditions so that you always have snow. Using advanced, temp, dew point, and barametric pressure, etc.. Bob
