November 19, 200421 yr The current FS 9 training flights have a number of SERIOUS problems:(1) The instructions are sometimes confusing and/or poorly timed. For example, lesson 3. For whatever reason, sometimes I'm able to go throught the "flaps" training part of it and sometimes not. It seems to depend on the precise timing and order of deploying the flaps and the text messages sometimes conflict with the voice message (it's not clear what to do at time x). If you don't time it right, the lesson just completely ignores you. Of course the well-known "check ride" training mission is another example. (2) Because of the above, the lessons should be made a LOT shorter, so that if there's a screw up, you can quickly start off where you left of. Or at least there should be a "save situation" option so that you can start off at the point in the lesson where you started to have problems.(3) I've heard something mentioned about a "skip instruction" command in the training lessons. I've never come accross this option, but it seems to be that'll be difficult to implement unless the "skip instruction to next instruction" command is able to change the location/speed/attitude of your aircraft when you execute this command. Overall, I've *not* found my experience with the training lessons to be very pleasant and/or user friendly. I expected a better experience from version *9*. I hope it's a priority for version 10. If we're going to bring new blood into the sim genre, I think decent training missions would be a nice start.
November 19, 200421 yr hi there. you make good points. I thought it would be helpful to try those sessions but the 'instructor' has the sense of humour of a flat stone and terminates the flight by saying 'as you're not taking this seriously we will terminate this lesson now' and that's the end of that! I don't take lessons now, I go off and crash quite happily by myself. nuts to ronny muchaco
