New to DX10 - Need a little help

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I am new to DX10, always saw it in the FSX menus but I managed to ignore it and write it off as a failed feature of FSX that no one uses.

I recently got annoyed with the constant OOM's that began popping up for me whenever I would fly into some of the newer payware airports so I did some research and found out about the DX10 fixer. I was really surprised to see how much progress was going on in the background to fix all the issues with DX10 and I was also surprised by all of the advantages to using it. So I sobered up and reluctantly switched to DX10 mode and installed the fixer thats uploaded to the Avsim library. For the first time in months I was able to fly nonstop across the atlantic to UK2000 Heathrow without getting an OOM on short final. I was amazed at how something like this passed under my radar for years; I was so desperate for steady non OOM flights that I had even purchased X-Plane 10 and a bunch of addons but it didn't compare to FSX.

SO I am here, I am willing to start with a fresh install of FSX on a nice formatted Windows 7 installation but I need a little guidance on how to go about setting up everything. I do have a considerable amount of payware scenery and aircraft but I would like to know if they are compatible with DX10. If no one minds, could a list of scenery be posted below thats compatible along with (not a total guide) but some sort of road map on how to approach using DX10 mode and setting it up with FSX correctly?

- Thanks for all the help!

P.S. I know there are guides up already here but I am not sure what has been superseded by new things so I thought I would ask and get it right the first time.

Thanks for the help! I followed these instructions and apart from a few incompatible sceneries everything seems to be running well! Didn't even have to reinstall FSX! thanks for the advice!
